Filipa George

Co-Founder | Architect

Born in Lisbon, Filipa graduated in Architecture from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, and University of Westminster in London, with RIBA Part III.

In Portugal, she had her first professional experience in Aires Mateus & Associados and after finishing her post graduate diploma she joined Foster + Partners in London. At F+P she was involved in mixed use, residential, office and interior projects before joining the core team for the Bloomberg Headquarters in London, an RIBA Stirling Prize 2018.

In 2014 she joined KPF (Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates) to help coordinating the project for the Goldman Sachs Offices in London. She returned to Lisbon in 2016, where she became an Associate Architect at Broadway Malyan, leading several projects in Portugal in hospitality, residential and offices and among these the competition winning entry for the sustainable food court at HCB, Beato Creative Hub.

In 2020 she joined Francisco to co-found LOA_D Lisbon Office for Architecture & Design, where they develop projects for building renovation, residential, housing and interiors. Filipa was a member of Architect’s Registration Board until 2016 and she is now a member of OA, the Portuguese Institute of Architects.

Francisco Pinto Basto

Co-Founder | Architect

Born in Lisbon, Francisco graduated in Architecture from the UAL University of Lisbon.

He started his professional experience in the practice of João de Almeida and Pedro Ferreira Pinto in Lisbon. At the end of 2009, he joined Foster + Partners in London, where he became an Associate Architect. At Foster + Partners he led projects in master planning, residential, mixed use, transport, and infrastructure. Amongst these, he was part of the team for the Panama airport up to the last phase of construction, and the Slussen Masterplan in Stockholm, Sweden.

Francisco returned to Lisbon in the end of 2017 and founded Pinto Basto Architecture, where he began to develop projects in Portugal in the sectors of renovation, residential, retail and office, with a major focus in housing. In 2020, he founded LOA_D Lisbon Office for Architecture & Design along with Filipa, where they develop larger scale projects in the areas of housing, residential and building renovation.

Francisco was a member of Architect’s Registration Board until 2017 and he has been a member of OA, the Portuguese Institute of Architects, since 2014.
